Primavera P6 is a powerful project management tool that uses an SQL database to store and manage data. Copying, Exporting, and creating a copy of this SQL database can be essential for backup purposes, data migration, or analysis. This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.
There are two ways to Export your Primavera P6 Data, The First way is to Export all projects and export the SQL Data
If you have a countable project, you can open all the projects one time and Export all of them in one step.
Here are the Main Major steps to Export all the Projects.
A. Export all the Projects in one Step
1. First Step
Here I only have three projects, So I can open all of them in one step.
Select and Shift on all the projects.
This is all the opened Projects.
2. Second Step
From the File Menu Choose Export
Here all the projects will be exported in one file and more projects can be exported in the same way.
Choose the File Location and Click on Finish to export all the Projects.
After Clicking on Finish, you will find this XER in the chosen location have all the three projects.
This is the easy way to have a backup of your “Countable” projects in Primavera P6.
The other way is just to copy the SQL Database to another folder or to share it with another one and another PC, so this way is to find where your SQL database is on your Computer.
B. Copy SQL Data Base
1. The First Step is Open Primavera
Before Entering the password, click on “Edit database configuration “
2. The Second Step is to Choose the wanted Database
We will Choose the “Old Projects “
3. The third step is to find the Location of the Data
Click on “Old Data “and then Click on “Next “
4. The Last step is to find the location of the SQL Data
After Clicking on Next This window will show up with the Database Location
The three points will open the Location of the Database.
This is the location of the SQL Database
Now you can copy the Database and take it as a backup to save your progress.
